Fabric Sale!

I don't normally post fabric sales unless they are just too good to pass up. This morning, I got an email from about a big sale and I scored some MAJOR good deals.

I got 7 yards of adorable Moda fabrics for $31.04, and free shipping!  At $4.43 per yard, how could I refuse? These were from the Apple Jacks, Cuzco, Noteworthy, Twenty Three and Cherry on Top lines - all of which I loved. They were 50% off and this coupon is for an additional 20% off.  If you order $35 worth of fabric, it's free shipping. SCORE!

Here's what I got - great stash builders...

Project List - Some Accountability Needed

Lately, I feel the project list getting longer and longer while the finish list is not really moving.  Time for some good, old-fashioned accountability.  No better way than to lay it all out there, in all it's glory... The Project List (cue the angelic music)!!

With a retreat coming up in two weeks (YAY! Four whole days of sewing!), I should be able to knock out a few items.

As an aside, part of my problem is that I cannot say "no" to any number of fabulous QAL's out there (hello Molli Sparkles Broken Herringbone QAL and Penny Poppleton Marcelle Medallion QAL).  I simply *must* join in the fun - but isn't that what quilting is all about, anyway?? So, I say, "just do it!"

Here's my list, with some project pics as well.

Front Burners

Judy Niemeyer table runner - the top is finally done! I am SO proud of this paper pieced project - each star has 136 pieces!!!  But now, I am PARALYZED with fear over quilting this - anyone have some ideas to share?
Halloween Swap - 3 to 4 items, due on October 15th.  I just finished a folded fabric ornament and a friendship bag - now I need to focus on a couple other items. I need to knock out  these by the retreat!

Broken Herringbone QAL - I've completed 18 out of my 25 blocks on this one. If I can get the blocks done before the retreat, I can possibly put it all together that weekend. Here is an overview of my color scheme - rainbow-y goodness!

Swoon  - two blocks left to go!

Double Wedding Ring - waiting for pieces to come back from laser cutting. Really want to get this going during the retreat
Commissioned T-shirt quilt - materials ordered, t-shirts cut, fusing up next.
Commissioned baby boy quilt - awaiting decisions on materials
Commissioned newborn photography quilts - 1 top pieced, second one about 1/2 done
Russian Rubix - will I ever get to this?? I want to do it so badly, but without an intended recipient, or a deadline it keeps getting pushed further back on this to-do list

Wow! I have so much to get done! I am linking up with Lee at Freshly Pieced today - hope to bask in some inspiration over there today :)

Happy stitching!

Seriously, is there anything cuter than a pincushion?

I just had to jump in on this prickly little blog hop with Kristin as the cheerleader and, as always, with Madame Samm leading the charge! Today is my day.

First, let me show you a few pincushions I made earlier this year - here is a super easy cathedral window pincushion - tutorial can be found here.
Cathedral Window Pincushion

And here is my itty-bitty 4" pineapple pincushion... so fun.

For this hop, I dug into a stash of orphaned hexies that were just screaming for some attention.  Didn't you just love the Salt Air line that came out last year? I had a charm pack and made a bunch of hexagons and never knew what to do with them...til now!

I think I might have to make about 5 more of these for little gifts, what do you think?  This makes a really good size pincushion - it's bigger than your standard size, about the size of my hand and perfect for keeping track of my pins.

Thanks for stopping by today ~ I would love for you to come back and see me again soon. You can follow this blog two ways:

Craftsy Sale

I love Craftsy! They've got some classes and I regularly browse their site for patterns.

They've got a huge sale going on right now - you should check it out if you have some down time this weekend... I've got a couple of the classes on my wishlist and now is a good time to stock up on them!

By far, I think the item I am currently coveting the most is this 50 fat quarter bundle set for only $63.99 ($96 off the regular price) = that's barely $1 per FQ. Oh, I am going to have to resist this...

Have fun shopping, I know I will.

Sunday Funday Giveaway Party!

Sunday Funday Giveaway Party

Hi everyone - welcome to Sunday Funday at the Tilted Quilt!  I am very thankful that Julie at 627handworks let me jump in and play this week. There are several other giveaways today, so after you enter my giveaway head on over to Julie's blog and check out the schedule.

If you are new to my blog, welcome! I really love sharing my projects and adventures with you - I hope you come back soon to check in on me.  You can follow me two ways:

Today's giveaway is a trio of fantastic fat quarters in orange and hot pink.  I'm also sending you a container of pins and a pincushion. There might also be a mystery item added in as well, just for a little additional fun!

I also wanted to give one of you the chance to take home a set of 6 hockey themed fat quarters. A couple of years ago, I made a sports themed quilt for a friend's son and, as you may know, I live in Central Texas where hockey really isn't played by the kids at all.  So, we weeded out these fat quarters. I know lots of you live in the Northern parts of the country where hockey is a big big deal.  So, if you would like these fat quarters, please let me know and I'll do a separate drawing for these 6 fat quarters.

Good luck in the giveaway - have a great Sunday!

WIP Wednesday - I've been Hijacked!

By a quilt-a-long, that is!

Isn't it fun when you get really excited about a new quilt block or project? And it's even more fun when you weren't planning on doing it, you are not on a deadline, and it's only for YOU!  That's why I am just giddy about the Molli Sparkles Broken Herringbone Quilt A Long (or #msbhqal for you Instagram folks - follow me for a blow by blow recap of the blocks).

Here is my progress so far - these blocks are really easy to piece, cross my heart ;)

I just finished the two green blocks on the right today - up next are my reds - I cannot wait.

Check out the tutorial at Play-Crafts - you will be hooked.

Here's the aqua...

Aqua block x 2!

You know what my favorite part of this is? Digging through my scrap bins and falling in love with my fabric all over again. I'm so glad I've started saving every little bit!

This orange has some Dear Stella, Comma, Amy Butler, and Kate Spain.  As I gather my scraps, I smile remembering the project where they were first used...

See this pink one - it's got Kate Spain, Amy Butler, Robert Kaufman Dots, some Art Gallery in there... How can it not make you smile?

My first broken herringbone block - love it!

Another thing that makes me happy, watching Season 4 of The Good Wife while I piece these blocks...Have to get all caught up before the new season starts in a few weeks.  Anyone else DONE with summer t.v.?

I hope you are working on a project that makes you smile this week. I'm linking up with Lee @ Freshly Pieced - head over and see what fun she's having today!  It just so happens that Molli Sparkles is the guest blogger this week and you can see more of these fabulous blocks there as well!!

Random Musings on Labor Day...

Hi there everyone! Happy Labor Day ~ hope you are enjoying the extra day off this week, I know I am.  Last night, I jumped on board this awesome bandwagon - Molli Sparkles Broken Herringbone Quilt-A-Long.  Here's the link to Molli's blog - follow us on Instagram for all of the sparkly goodness!

This is a GREAT way to use up your scraps - and boy do I love rummaging through my scrap bin to find the perfect fabric combinations!.

I was recently asked to share some of my tutorials with Fave Quilts - have you heard of them? They've got TONS of free patterns online - they categorize and provide links to all of the patterns in the blogosphere and beyond.  I sent them a couple of links and I was shocked this morning to see that my Lasagna Quilt tutorial was listed as the top quilt in the throw and lap quilt category.  If you are looking for a quick and fun quilt using a jelly roll, check out my tutorial.

Finally, I guess I am going to have to give away the Aurifil to two alternates, because I can't get in touch with the two winners who were "no-reply" bloggers - are you one? How do you fix it if you are?  Check out this tutorial at Sew at Home Mummy's blog for a step-by-step cure!

The new winners are...

I will email you later today to get your mailing address - thanks so much for playing!!

Have a great {short} week everyone!
